ResearchAlum predicted on the 29th that Dongwoon Anatech would benefit from increased sales of Huawei's foldable smartphones in the first half of this year.
Woo Hwirang, a researcher at ResearchAlum, explained, "Dongwoon Anatech supplies autofocus (AF) and optical image stabilization (OIS) devices to major smartphone manufacturers in China and domestically," adding, "It is known to hold about 80% market share of OIS driver ICs within Huawei." He further noted, "Recently, it has also been increasingly applied to Huawei's flagship and foldable series."
He stated, "Dongwoon Anatech's eOIS (a method implementing OIS with three AF units) is being applied to Samsung Electronics' Galaxy A series," and analyzed, "It has price competitiveness compared to OIS and there is potential for additional overseas customers."
Researcher Woo estimated, "Haptic devices for automotive use are believed to be exclusively supplied to Hyundai Motor and Kia," emphasizing, "Expansion of applicable models is expected this year for Kia electric vehicles and next year for German brand customers."
He also mentioned, "They have registered as a partner with Meta and are preparing to enter the extended reality (XR) field," explaining, "It is estimated that it will be applied to VR devices as early as this year."
Woo further analyzed, "With the advancement of AI, there is growing interest in low-power semiconductors that improve performance and reduce energy consumption," adding, "They are developing automotive low-power semiconductor PMICs that can be applied to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and microcontroller units (MCU)."
He explained, "Using microcurrent detection technology, they developed the world's first saliva (saliva-based) blood glucose meter called ‘D-SaLife’," stating, "It utilizes existing semiconductor technology by detecting the microcurrent generated when sugar components in saliva fall onto the measurement sensor to determine blood glucose levels."
Additionally, he predicted, "Commercialization is expected in the second half of next year," and forecasted, "Patents have been obtained in Japan, China, Europe, and India, and expansion into overseas markets is planned."
