Received Over 30 Million Won Under the Pretext of Covering Up the Incident

The current police investigation team leader has been arrested on charges of receiving bribes from a close aide of Lee In-kwang, chairman of Esmo, who is identified as the main figure in the Lime Asset Management (Lime) scandal.

On the 25th, Han Jeong-seok, presiding judge of the Criminal Division 2 at the Seoul Southern District Court, conducted a pre-trial detention hearing for Police Sergeant Kwon, the investigation team leader at Seocho Police Station in Seoul, who was indicted on charges including bribery, and issued an arrest warrant citing concerns of flight risk and evidence tampering.

Sergeant Kwon is alleged to have received about 30 million won in three installments since December last year from A, a close aide of Chairman Lee, under the pretext of halting the investigation.

The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office arrested Sergeant Kwon on the 23rd and conducted a search and seizure at the investigation department of Seocho Police Station.
