Restaurant Owner and Delivery Worker Argue Over Late Food Delivery
Owner Grabs Collar and Spits... Both Claim Assault
An incident has sparked public outrage after a delivery worker spat in the face of a restaurant owner and assaulted him because the food was late.
On the 22nd, JTBC's 'Case Manager' reported that on the 19th, at a restaurant in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a delivery worker arrived earlier than the scheduled time and got into an argument with the restaurant owner. Delivery worker A urged owner B, saying, "The cooking time is over," while B showed A the computer screen indicating that there was still time left for cooking. This scene was fully recorded on the store's closed-circuit television (CCTV).
However, A's complaints did not stop. A said, "If (the owner) had just said there were about 10 minutes left, I would have just left, but how nice would it have been if we had exchanged a kind word?" and continuously pressured B. After receiving the food and leaving the store, A uttered a curse just before departure, which B overheard and began confronting A.
B claims that during the argument, A came back into the store, threw a helmet, and struck his neck. The CCTV footage shows A spitting in B's face. The footage also clearly captures B wiping his face after being unexpectedly spat on.
Currently, A claims mutual assault. A expressed grievance, saying, "We grabbed each other's collars simultaneously at the store entrance," and "B responded first with an aggressive tone. In the end, I received the food 5 minutes late."
Meanwhile, assault refers to any unlawful use of physical force against the body, and its nature does not necessarily have to result in injury. If a person commits assault on another's body, they may be punished with imprisonment of up to 2 years, or a fine, detention, or penalty not exceeding 5 million won.
