Volleyball, Jokgu, Basketball, and Shooting 4-Event Overall 1st Place
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 23rd that the delegation of 505 athletes who participated in the 63rd Gyeongsangnam-do Residents Sports Festival concluded their four-day journey with excellent results.
The representative athletes of Geochang-gun demonstrated their honed skills to achieve overall 1st place in volleyball, jokgu, basketball, and shooting; overall 2nd place in tennis, wrestling, and taekwondo; and overall 3rd place in weightlifting, golf, park golf, and ground golf.
In particular, the shooting event, nurtured through the elite sports team project, achieved a 10th consecutive victory, showcasing its status as an unbeatable powerhouse in shooting.
Basketball, which ranked 3rd last year, newly stood out by achieving 1st place this year, while volleyball and jokgu also secured their second consecutive wins following last year.
Multiple multi-title winners emerged as well. ▲ Kim Ga-hyun (Daeseong Ilgo) won two titles in swimming ▲ Weightlifting triple champions Park Dong-young, Moon In-seok, Choi Seung-hwan, Choi Seung-hyun, Kim Ju-ho, and Kim Ye-jin (Daeseong Ilgo) ▲ Shooting triple champions Kim Yu-gyeong (Arimgo), Choi Eun-su (Junganggo), and double champions Kwon Min-a, Kim Sang-jin, Jeong Hyo-eun (Geochang Girls' High School) all elevated the honor of Geochang-gun with outstanding performances.
Additionally, the team was awarded the ‘Friendship Award,’ given to the delegation that leads the competition with strong camaraderie, demonstrating the harmonious spirit of Geochang.
Meanwhile, the Geochang-gun Sports Council will hold the closing ceremony of the 63rd Gyeongnam Residents Sports Festival on the 26th, encouraging the athletes for their hard work, awarding outstanding events, and providing an overall review of the competition.
