Worker Falls to Death During Bridge Repair Work in Jindo, Jeonnam

A worker fell to his death during bridge repair work in Jindo, Jeollanam-do, prompting a police investigation.

According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters and Jeonnam Police Agency on the 23rd, at around 11:12 a.m. the previous day, A (31) fell approximately 15 meters to the ground from the deck of Jodo Bridge in Jodo-myeon, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do.

A, who was seriously injured in the accident, was transported to the hospital by the 119 ambulance team and the coast guard but died.

A is reported to have had the accident while preparing for work such as installing scaffolding at the Jodo Bridge repair site. The project was commissioned by Jindo-gun.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident. They plan to file charges against those responsible if negligence is found after checking compliance with safety regulations.

The labor authorities are also examining whether there was a violation of the Industrial Safety and Health Act or the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
