Adult Festival Ultimately Canceled Again... Gangnam District Office Says "Business Decision"

Cancellation of Fourth Venue Booking in Suwon, Paju, and Others

The ‘Adult Festival’ (2024 KXF The Fashion), which was scheduled to be held at a pub in Apgujeong, Seoul on the 20th and 21st, is expected to be canceled. This is because the venue that was supposed to be rented canceled the contract.

According to News1 on the 18th, Gangnam District Office announced that the venue disclosed by the Adult Festival organizers ultimately decided to cancel the event. It is known that the Gangnam District Office visited the venue in person to confirm the owner’s intention regarding the event.

The venue reportedly felt burdened by the harsh public criticism of the adult event, opposition from nearby merchants, and persuasion from the Seoul city and district offices. Accordingly, there is a high possibility that the Adult Festival will either move to another location again or be discontinued.

This is the fourth time the venue rental for the Adult Festival has been canceled. The Adult Festival is a program that includes adult film actors, photo shoots, lingerie fashion shows, and adult product experiences.

The event, organized by an adult content production company, was originally scheduled to be held for two days starting on the 20th of this month at Suwon Messe, a private exhibition hall in Seodun-dong, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon City. However, it faced opposition from women’s groups and other civic organizations, and considering the presence of an elementary school near Suwon Messe, the Suwon city government requested the cancellation of the venue rental.

Afterwards, the event was planned to be held in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, and at a floating pub in Jamwon Hangang Park, Seoul, but was canceled due to opposition from the respective local governments. At that time, the Seoul city government sent an official letter to the Asah Cruise, prohibiting the event and warning that if the event proceeded, strict measures such as canceling the floating pub rental approval and cutting off electricity supply would be taken.

In response, the organizers suddenly announced on the 16th that the Adult Festival would be held at a party room in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam. The Gangnam District Office sent official letters to about 300 food service establishments on Apgujeong Street, warning them against violating the Food Sanitation Act and threatening administrative sanctions. The Gangnam District Office stated, “Since the organizers expressed their intention to continue the event, we visited the site to confirm the owner’s position.”
