Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will hold the "16th Danjong's Queen Jeongsun Cultural Festival" on the 20th at Sungin Neighborhood Park (Dongmangbong) to commemorate the loyalty of Queen Jeongsun Song, the consort of Danjong, the 6th king of the Joseon Dynasty.

This event is themed "Saving Oneself" and consists of palace dance performances, ritual education, storytelling, craft and traditional game experiences, and an alleyway guide program.

Going beyond a memorial-centered event, the focus is on expanding opportunities for resident participation and remembering Queen Jeongsun not as a tragic historical figure but as an independent woman. To this end, various traditional cultural experience booths will be operated, including natural dyeing, which Queen Jeongsun used as a self-help measure, as well as gyubang craft, knot craft, and folk painting.

Additionally, traditional ritual education conducted by the Jeonju Yi Clan Daedong Jongyakwon and a Queen Jeongsun Breath Alley exploration with an alley guide will also be held. Participation in the exploration can be applied for online in advance through the Seoul Public Service Reservation system.

Jongno-gu stated, "Queen Jeongsun is not simply a figure of a tragic past but a witness of history who lived fiercely," and added, "We will develop the Queen Jeongsun Cultural Festival into a representative local cultural festival that many tourists visiting Jongno, as well as residents, can participate in."
