Korea East-West Power announced on the 17th that it held the '2024 Energy Sector Startup Idea Contest' to foster internal and external startup companies in the field of energy innovation and selected 10 final ideas.
The first-place winning idea was a proposal for a 'startup company developing a solar power project utilizing the sea adjacent to disappearing villages.' It is a resident-participatory solar power business model using idle sea areas in fishing villages experiencing population decline and aging, aiming to promote renewable energy and seek new growth engines for villages at risk of disappearance.
East-West Power plans to separately promote a startup recruitment using the selected startup ideas. They will select 20 teams and provide support such as ▲startup education ▲consultation ▲field training ▲business funding ▲business management.
Kim Young-moon, CEO of East-West Power, said, "We will continue to spare no effort in various investments and support to realize co-growth in the energy industry and to build a win-win ecosystem with leading startup companies in the energy sector."
