Former Seoul Gangseo District Mayor Kim Tae-woo has reportedly been brought to trial on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act during last year's by-election.
According to the legal community on the 15th, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office has indicted former Mayor Kim without detention on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.
Former Mayor Kim is accused of participating in a gathering or meeting of more than 25 people during the official campaign period of last October's by-election.
Article 103 of the Public Official Election Act stipulates that "No one shall hold a hometown association, clan association, alumni meeting, unity rally, picnic, or any other gathering or meeting with more than 25 participants during the election period to influence the election."
