Make It Grow into South Korea's Representative Spring Flower Festival
Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 11th that a total of approximately 430,000 tourists visited during the ‘19th Changnyeong Nakdonggang Canola Flower Festival’ held from the 4th to the 7th at Namji Canola Flower Complex and Namji Sports Park, marking it a successful festival.
In particular, this year’s festival was held about a week earlier than last year due to the early blooming of the canola flowers. The golden waves of the canola flower fields and the silver waves of cherry blossoms on a bright spring day captivated the hearts of spring visitors.

To provide various attractions and activities for tourists, a separate event area around the second parking lot featured a children’s playground, experience booths, busking performances, and more, receiving great responses from visitors.
Also, the first-ever ‘Changnyeong Farmer Ajima Contest’ contributed to promoting tourism in Changnyeong as well as raising awareness of local agricultural products such as Changnyeong garlic and onions.
The Nakdong River, harmonized with the canola flower complex spanning 1.1 million square meters (about 330,000 pyeong), the largest single-area canola field nationwide, boasts a beautiful landscape like a painting. Based on the blooming period, it is expected to attract over one million tourists, surpassing last year’s visitor numbers.

An official from the county stated, “The ‘19th Changnyeong Nakdonggang Canola Flower Festival’ held from the 4th to the 7th differentiated itself and enhanced competitiveness by developing new programs related to local cultural and tourism resources, such as the Changnyeong Namji Gaebiri Walking Contest, Yeongsan Soemori Performance, Air Force Black Eagles’ congratulatory flight, and Radi Orienteering event, along with existing content. We aim to grow it into Korea’s representative spring flower festival.”
