Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, conducted a training session on the 5th, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gyeongbuk Livestock Technology Research Institute (Yeongju-si, Gyeongbuk) for 15 farmers participating in the elite Hanwoo embryo transfer project.
This training was organized to improve conception rates through methods for selecting excellent surrogate mothers among participating farmers, as well as feeding and reproductive management of donor cows.
The elite Hanwoo embryo transfer project promoted by Goryeong-gun aims to produce high-performance Hanwoo calves by directly purchasing genetically superior breeding cows with excellent physique and ability, and producing embryos through fertilization of eggs from these breeding cows with semen from superior breeding bulls, thereby accelerating Hanwoo improvement.
This project has been promoted by Goryeong-gun in collaboration with the Goryeong Seongju Livestock Cooperative since 2023, and in 2024, a total project cost of 120 million KRW is being invested to advance the elite Hanwoo embryo transfer project.
County Governor Namcheol Lee stated, “Through this training, I hope the production of elite Hanwoo calves in Goryeong-gun’s Hanwoo farms will increase, leading to higher farm incomes, and we will continue to strive for the development of Goryeong-gun’s livestock industry.”
