Violinist Danny Gu, who recently gained public recognition by appearing on MBC's 'I Live Alone,' will release his digital single album 'Moonlight (MOONLIGHT)' on the 10th, his agency Credia announced on the 9th.
The album, a collection of pieces collaborated with jazz pianist Jo Yoon-sung, will be released under the Warner Music label. It includes two instrumental tracks for violin and piano, as well as two songs showcasing Danny Gu's talents as a singer. Danny Gu also participated in the lyrics and composition.
Danny Gu personally wrote the lyrics for the songs he sang, 'Love Letter' and 'Just You.' He especially took part in composing 'Just You.' The instrumental piece for piano and violin, 'Twilight Waltz,' was co-composed with Jo Yoon-sung.
Danny Gu was born in Chicago in 1991 and began playing the violin at the age of six. He was the last disciple of violinist Helen Kwalbaser and earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees at the New England Conservatory, studying under Donald Weilerstein, Su Bin Kim, and Malcolm Lowe.
Recently, he attracted attention as the first classical performer to appear on MBC's 'I Live Alone.' While being a traditional classical musician, he is actively involved in various music genres such as jazz and crossover. He has been invited to perform at the Seoul Spring Chamber Music Festival (SSF), opening on the 23rd, and the Seoul Jazz Festival, opening on the 31st of next month, and is preparing for a solo concert at Lotte Concert Hall this December.
