Kumho Soloists, a Stage Filled Exclusively with Elgar Chamber Music

'90th Anniversary of Passing' Commemorative Concert
On the 25th at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei

A stage where you can enjoy the major chamber music works of British composer Edward Elgar will be prepared.


To commemorate the 90th anniversary of Elgar's death, Kumho Soloists will perform Elgar's major chamber works on the 25th at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei, the Kumho Cultural Foundation announced on the 8th. Kumho Soloists will perform two pieces for violin and piano (Op.15), the string quartet in E minor (Op. 83), Romance for cello and piano (Op. 62), and the piano quintet in A minor (Op. 84).


Violinists Kim Jaeyoung, Lee Ji-hye, Park Kyumin, violist Lee Hanna, cellists Kim Minji, Lee Jeongran, and pianist Kim Dasol will take the stage.

Elgar composed romantic music using rich harmonies, and his music is characterized by beautiful melodies that flow naturally, giving a deep resonance. Although Elgar left relatively few chamber works, each piece is regarded as a masterpiece full of lyricism.


Kumho Soloists was founded in 2007, centered on young musicians who have grown with the support of the Kumho Cultural Foundation and are promising talents. Each member is a prizewinner of major international competitions and is recognized worldwide as leading Korean musicians through active activities. Over the past 16 years, Kumho Soloists has performed an extensive repertoire of over 120 pieces spanning various eras.


Past members include pianists Son Yeol-eum, Kim Sunwook, Sunwoo Yekwon, violinists the late Kwon Hyukju, Choi Yeeun, Shin Jiah, Clara Jumi Kang, and violist Lee Yura.
