70-Year-Old Monster Who Sexually Abused Daughter and Granddaughter for 40 Years Sparks Outrage Across Singapore

A heartless 70-year-old Singaporean man who sexually assaulted his own daughter and granddaughter has been sentenced to a heavy prison term.

On the 1st, The Straits Times of Singapore reported that the 75-year-old man was found guilty of seven sexual offenses at the High Court and was sentenced to 21 years and 3 months in prison. He was also sentenced to caning, but since caning is not applied to those over 50 years old, an additional 6 months of imprisonment was imposed instead.

Currently, his daughter is 46 years old, and his granddaughter is 19 years old. The man assaulted his daughter from when she was 4 years old in 1981 until she was 12 in 1988, in the family apartment. Some incidents occurred in the pickup truck he used to take his daughter to construction sites while working as a crane operator from 1984 to 1986. While assaulting his daughter, he said things like "because I love you" or "this must be kept secret." The daughter realized it was wrong after attending a sex education class in 1987. Although she did not tell anyone about the abuse, she took preventive measures herself, such as refusing to go to the construction site and locking her room.

In September 2003, during a pilgrimage trip, she began to forgive her father after seeing him repent. However, the man sexually assaulted his granddaughter for over 10 years, from when she was 4 years old in 2009 until she was 17 in 2021. The man's heinous acts became known to the public in 2021 when the daughter informed her husband about the abuse, and their daughter also became aware of it.
