Introducing Direct Internet Plans in Partnership with LGU+ and GS25

Introducing Direct Internet Plans in Partnership with LGU+ and GS25

LG Uplus announced on the 2nd that it will expand the reach of its Direct Internet Plan in partnership with GS25.

Accordingly, LG Uplus will attach QR codes to four popular lunchbox products sold at GS25 convenience stores throughout this month. These QR codes allow customers to watch video content introducing the Direct Internet Plan.

Customers who watch the video content via the attached QR code will be eligible for various prizes. After scratching the area next to the QR code to reveal a number, customers can enter the number after watching the video content to instantly check if they have won. Prizes include a 3-night, 5-day trip for two to Phu Quoc, Vietnam (1 winner), Gucci GG Marmont luxury bags (2 winners), LG Gram 15-inch laptops (3 winners), AirPods Max (5 winners), and GS25 gift certificates worth 3,000 KRW (500 winners).

The Direct Internet Plan is an internet product exclusively for those aged 18 to 39, offered through the official online mall ‘Uplus.com’. It consists of options such as ‘100M (19,800 KRW/month)’ suitable for internet browsing and shopping, ‘500M (26,400 KRW/month)’ for uninterrupted high-definition movies and gaming, and ‘1 Giga (33,000 KRW/month)’ for fast uploading of large content. Adding Wi-Fi service requires an additional payment of only 4,400 KRW.

The biggest advantage of this plan is that even with a one-year contract, it is cheaper than the general plans that require a three-year contract. For example, the general plan ‘Premium Safe 1 Giga’ costs 61,600 KRW per month (739,200 KRW annually) with a three-year contract, whereas the ‘Direct 1 Giga’ plan costs 33,000 KRW per month (396,000 KRW annually) with a one-year contract. This means a maximum annual saving of 343,200 KRW. When combined with the IPTV service ‘U+tv’, customers receive an additional monthly discount of 1,375 KRW, and up to 3,300 KRW monthly discount when combined with U+ Mobile (5G/LTE). Due to the low penalty fees, this plan is advantageous for university students, young professionals, and foreign customers staying in Korea for a short period.

LG Uplus also provides Wi-Fi service for only 4,400 KRW per month, waives the one-time installation fee, and offers customized benefits such as up to one year of temporary suspension service.

Kang Jin-wook, Head of Digital Commerce Tribe at LG Uplus (Executive Director), said, "We expect this partnership to be an opportunity to introduce the Direct Internet Plan to customers in their 20s and 30s in an engaging way," adding, "We plan to continue various events on Uplus.com that provide differentiated customer value to the 20s and 30s demographic."
