Media Art Expressing Forests, Ponds, and the Universe Through Light
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi-do will hold a special exhibition titled "The Forest of Light" at the Hwaseong Open Culture and Arts Space in Songdong from April 5 to May 18 in celebration of Family Month.
This exhibition is a media art display using light as a medium to depict forests, ponds, and the universe, showcasing diverse works by three domestic media artists.
The main exhibition features include ▲ a "media wall" utilizing three walls of the exhibition room ▲ "media mapping," a visual art piece created by projecting images onto musical instruments ▲ and "interactive media art," which reflects visitors' movements in the artwork.
The city explained that unlike traditional exhibitions that are only visually appreciated, this exhibition offers visitors a unique experience by allowing them to actively participate in the artworks.
In connection with the exhibition, the city will also operate various cultural programs for all ages, such as piano concerts, scratch coloring, and hands-on crafting experiences.
At the Hwaseong Open Culture and Arts Space, there is also a rental exhibition showcasing local artists active in the area. This year, 15 rental exhibitions are scheduled, including "Vivid Colors, and Us" by the Western Painting Division of the Hwaseong Branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association, offering works in various genres.
Choi Won-kyo, Director of Culture and Arts at Hwaseong City, said, "We will continue to plan and develop exhibitions and diverse cultural programs that everyone can enjoy and present them to our citizens."
Meanwhile, the Hwaseong Open Culture and Arts Space was established by the city to address the shortage of exhibition spaces for artists and to promote cultural and artistic enjoyment among citizens. It operates from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with free admission and rental fees.
