BYD Surpasses 7 Million Units in Cumulative Production of Eco-Friendly Vehicles Worldwide for the First Time

Chinese automaker BYD's cumulative production of eco-friendly vehicles has surpassed 7 million units for the first time in the world.

On the 25th, BYD unveiled the 7 millionth eco-friendly vehicle, the 'Denza (DENZA)', at its plant in Zhanjiang, China. A BYD representative explained, "Surpassing 7 million eco-friendly vehicles produced is an indicator of BYD's remarkable growth."

BYD achieved the production of its 1 millionth eco-friendly vehicle in May 2021. Eighteen months later, it reached 3 million units, and just nine months after that, it surpassed 5 million units. It then took only seven months to exceed 7 million units.

BYD's annual cumulative sales of eco-friendly vehicles stand at 3.02 million units, leading the global eco-friendly vehicle market. BYD attributes this to its extensive brand portfolio and diverse models driving sales in each category.

In particular, last year, BYD increased its overseas sales of eco-friendly passenger cars to over 240,000 units, establishing itself as China's largest exporter of eco-friendly vehicles. This overseas sales figure represents a 337% growth compared to the previous year.

BYD has entered the eco-friendly passenger car markets in 64 countries and regions worldwide, including strategic investments in manufacturing facilities in Thailand, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Hungary. Additionally, BYD is reportedly considering entering the Korean passenger car market. This year, as the official partner of the 'UEFA European Football Championship 2024', BYD plans to showcase its eco-friendly vehicles on the international stage, including the European market.

A BYD representative stated, "We will continue to expand our localization strategies for our products, technologies, and brand in global markets, while striving to contribute to the greening of the global automotive industry."
