Jeju Maritime Police plans to carry out a special crackdown mainly around major ports and harbors and at sea for one month from the 1st to the 30th of next month, following prior publicity and guidance activities targeting fishing boat workers from the 18th to the 31st of this month.
The main crackdown items will focus on unreported entries and exits, failure to wear life jackets, exceeding capacity, violation of business areas, and operating under the influence of alcohol.
A Jeju Maritime Police official said, “To prevent marine safety accidents involving fishing boats, a culture of voluntarily following safety rules must be established. In particular, we urge compliance with procedures regarding basic violations that continue to occur, such as failure to wear life jackets, overloading, and drunk operation.”
