Masan Public Health Center in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, is promoting education, publicity, and campaigns until the 31st to raise awareness about the importance of tuberculosis prevention and screening in observance of the 14th Tuberculosis Prevention Day.
To protect the health of the elderly, among whom tuberculosis cases are increasing, a "Visiting Tuberculosis Prevention Education" was conducted on the 18th at Jungni Senior College in cooperation with the National Masan Hospital. It will be held on the 19th at Masan Hoewon Senior Welfare Center and on the 20th at Masan Happo Senior Welfare Center.
Additionally, ▲ on the 20th, a free chest X-ray examination and street campaign using the Korean Tuberculosis Association's mobile screening vehicle will be held at Jungni Jugong Apartment Complex 1 in Naeseo-eup ▲ tuberculosis prevention rule practice education for kindergarten children with Ppugyeol-i (Tuberculosis ZERO character) ▲ and online and offline promotions for "Tuberculosis Prevention Day" in collaboration with Gyeongnam University, Masan University, and Changshin University will be carried out until the end of this month.
Lee Ji-ryeon, director of Masan Public Health Center, said, "Tuberculosis is a disease transmitted through airborne tuberculosis bacteria. If you have symptoms such as a cough lasting more than two weeks, sputum, fever, night sweats, or weight loss, it is necessary to get screened. Furthermore, seniors aged 65 and older can receive free screening once a year at their local public health center even if they have no symptoms."
