First Performance at Gyeonggi Gugak Center on the 30th
The Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra of the Gyeonggi Arts Center announced on the 18th that it will hold the 'Weekend Concert - 4 PM' with commentary by Daniel Lindemann at the Gyeonggi Gugak Center's Gugakdang on the 30th.
The Weekend Concert is composed of familiar and easy music such as orchestral music, folk songs, Samulnori, traditional music, and dance that can be enjoyed by a diverse audience including children, adolescents, and adults. This year, the Weekend Concert will be held three times with different themes. The theme of the March performance is 'Spring,' and performances with the themes of 'Filial Piety' and 'Tradition' will follow at 4 PM on May 25 and July 27, respectively.
Kim Seong-jin, the newly appointed artistic director of the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra, will conduct, and Daniel Lindemann, a broadcaster and pianist familiar from the JTBC program 'Non-Summit,' will provide commentary.

The first performance, '4 PM: Now, Spring,' will be a Gugak orchestral concert that families can comfortably enjoy on a warm spring weekend afternoon. It is the first stage for Kim Seong-jin, the newly appointed artistic director of the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra. The program includes performances such as a symphony interpreted through Gugak orchestral music and dance, the gayageum concerto 'Chunseol,' and the yanggeum concerto 'Blue Breath.' The yanggeum concerto 'Blue Breath' was composed based on the motif of the folk song 'Sae-ya Sae-ya Parangsae.' It is a commissioned premiere by composer Jang Seok-jin, symbolizing that the noble breath of those who participated in the Donghak Peasant Revolution still lives on this land.
The second performance, '4 PM: Again, Youth,' is a concert themed on filial piety in celebration of Family Month in May, conveying gratitude and enjoyment together. It will feature Gugak orchestral music centered on 'folk songs and Samulnori.' Starting with the Gugak orchestral version of the popular song that defined an era, 'Spring Days Are Gone,' it will present folk songs reflecting our lives and regional characteristics, as well as lively rhythms of Korean Jangdan. The Samulnori concerto is a commissioned premiere by composer Lee Go-woon.
The third performance, '4 PM: Tradition, Radiant,' is a stage where you can experience the diverse flavors of our traditional arts, including court music, pungnyu music, folk music, Gyeonggi Japga, Korean dance, and Samulnori, themed on our precious cultural and artistic heritage, 'Tradition.'
A representative of the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra stated, "'Weekend Concert - 4 PM' will create an open space and a low-threshold venue for Gyeonggi residents, offering a relaxed and comfortable performance that brings rest to the lives of Gyeonggi citizens."
Tickets for the Weekend Concert - 4 PM performances can be reserved on the Gyeonggi Arts Center website and Interpark Ticket.
