Midas Surpasses 10 Billion KRW in Basic TDF Assets Under Management

Midas Asset Management announced on the 19th that the assets under management of the 'Midas Basic TDF' series recently exceeded 10 billion KRW.

The Midas Basic TDF is characterized by active investment aimed at outperforming the market while charging a low management fee of only 0.15% per year. The Basic TDF investment assets are divided and invested in regional master funds managed by Midas Asset's lead managers specializing in active equity management.

In the case of the master funds, no separate fees are charged, and since most investments are made directly in overseas and domestic stocks rather than other overseas funds, there is the advantage of almost no indirect costs. Considering that fees have a significant impact on performance for long-term TDFs operated over 20 or 30 years, the low cost structure of the Midas Basic TDF is regarded as an advantage.

Midas Asset's Basic TDF differentiates itself from other industry TDFs by minimizing direct and indirect investment costs while being actively managed. Most active management TDFs in the domestic market that seek market-beating investment performance invest in funds managed by overseas asset managers in a re-delegated structure. This results in a double fee problem where investors bear additional fees for those funds. TDFs with low fees are mostly passive types that are satisfied with market-level investment performance.

The independent asset management company Midas Asset's TDF minimizes costs by composing its investment portfolio mainly of its own funds that invest directly in overseas and domestic stocks. The investment performance and significant increase in assets under management of the Midas Basic TDF demonstrate that domestic asset managers can achieve performance by managing directly without relying on famous overseas asset managers. A Midas Asset representative said, "When low costs and active fund manager investment are combined, better management performance will be generated over time."
