In Gumi-eul, North Gyeongsang Province, former National Planning Secretary Kang defeated incumbent lawmaker Kim Young-sik to advance to the main election. Kang, who won the final primary after a four-way contest, is classified as part of the pro-Yoon (Yoon Seok-yeol) faction.
In Pocheon-Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, former Youth Supreme Council member Kim Yong-tae, who served under the 'Lee Jun-seok leadership,' secured the main election ticket by defeating former Presidential Transition Committee Planning Member Kwon Shin-il. Pocheon-Gapyeong previously held a five-way primary, and on the 14th, the runoff between Kim and Kwon was confirmed. Kim will compete against Democratic Party candidate Park Yoon-guk, former mayor of Pocheon.
In Jung-gu, Daejeon, former lawmaker Lee Eun-kwon won against former Special Committee Chair for Local Investment Industry Development at the National Balanced Development Committee Kang Young-hwan. Lee will face Democratic Party candidate Park Yong-gap, former mayor of Jung-gu, Daejeon.
The Nomination Committee plans to expedite nominations for the two constituencies of Busan Suyeong and Daegu Jung-nam. With the Central Election Countermeasures Committee inauguration scheduled for the 19th and less than a month remaining until the general election, they intend to conclude the decision on re-nomination for these constituencies late at night on the same day if necessary.
Earlier, on the 14th, the People Power Party decided to cancel lawyer Do Tae-woo's nomination for Daegu Jung-nam due to controversy over his remarks disparaging the May 18 Democratic Uprising. Subsequently, on the 16th, the party abruptly canceled former Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan's nomination following controversies over his past remarks, including the 'orgy comment.'
