Gyeonggi-do, Nationwide First Emergency Living Expense Support of 1 Million Won for Jeonse Victims...

Gyeonggi Province will be the first in the nation to provide emergency living expenses of 1 million won to households affected by jeonse fraud, with applications accepted starting from the 18th.

Gyeonggi Province has secured a total of 3 billion won entirely from provincial funds to support 1 million won per affected household, one time.

The support targets households whose affected housing is located in Gyeonggi Province and who have been recognized as victims of jeonse fraud under the special law or have received a jeonse damage confirmation certificate from the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG). Foreigners are also eligible. However, those receiving emergency welfare support or emergency housing relocation support due to jeonse fraud damage cannot receive emergency living expense support.

Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Since the selection is based on the location of the affected housing, those who suffered jeonse damage in a Gyeonggi Province residence but currently live in another city or province can also receive support.

Applications can be submitted online through the Gyeonggi Minwon24 website (https://gg24.gg.go.kr). For those wishing to apply in person, they should check the responsible department by city or county of the applicant’s resident registration location posted on the Gyeonggi Minwon24 website and visit the corresponding department to apply.

Upon application, the relevant city or county office will verify eligibility by checking for duplicate emergency welfare benefits and the appropriateness of required documents, then notify the applicant of the result.

Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, explained the purpose of this project, saying, "I hope this will provide at least minimal living support and comfort to innocent victims like the young person affected by jeonse fraud who, after barely asking their mother to send just 20,000 won, left this world."
