The 'Semiconductor Companies Council' is a public-private consultative body formed in August 2022, shortly after the launch of the 8th local government administration, to facilitate communication between the city and semiconductor companies.

The meeting was attended by seven semiconductor companies based in Icheon, including DS Techno Co., Ltd., Value Engineering Co., Ltd., and Eugene Tech Co., Ltd., as well as eight institutions such as the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, Icheon Education Support Office, and Gyeonggi Employment and Labor Office. The participating companies and institutions promoted newly established corporate support policies for this year and discussed cooperation measures such as building networks between companies and institutions, the city explained.

In particular, the meeting discussed the establishment of semiconductor education programs for matching young job seekers to resolve the semiconductor companies' labor shortages, plans to link with specialized high schools, and industry-commissioned education at Doowon Technical University.

Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "As semiconductor companies in the area, including SK Hynix, play a central role in leading the city's economy, we will strengthen corporate competitiveness through the establishment of a cooperative system among institutions."
