On Taxpayer's Day, Fostering a Healthy Tax Payment Culture

On the 4th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam presented plaques of appreciation to diligent taxpayers who have faithfully paid local taxes, serving as role models for citizens and contributing to the expansion of stable autonomous financial resources, which form the foundation of local autonomy, in celebration of the '58th Taxpayer's Day.'

This award ceremony was organized to foster a sound taxpaying culture where taxpayers who faithfully pay local taxes feel a sense of fulfillment and pride and are socially respected.

According to the Ordinance on Support for Faithful Taxpayers in Changwon City, taxpayers who have paid local taxes of at least 300 million KRW for corporations and 50 million KRW for individuals in the past year, and who have no record of local tax delinquency in the past three years, were selected as faithful taxpayers this year. The selected include two companies (Hanwha, HiteJinro) and three individuals: CEO Kim Buyong of Giseong Heist, Director Yoon Ji-yeol of Seoul Hospital, and Director Kim Kyung-beom of the theKeun Hospital.

In addition to receiving plaques of appreciation, faithful taxpayers are granted benefits such as ▲a two-year exemption from local tax audits ▲relaxation of tax payment guarantees when local tax collection is deferred or payment deadlines extended ▲selection as invitees to various events or inspections hosted by the city.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said to the awardees, “We thank you for faithfully paying local taxes despite the challenging domestic and international economic conditions. The taxes you have paid will be used valuably for preparing Changwon’s next 50 years, supporting vulnerable groups, and providing jobs for the younger generation, all for the benefit of our citizens.”
