Jill Biden Says They Are Boasting About 'Killing Roe v. Wade'
First Lady Jill Biden has stepped up to 'help her husband' by criticizing former President Trump, the leading Republican candidate, as President Joe Biden, who is seeking re-election, struggles with risks related to his advanced age.
Mrs. Biden emphasized that Trump has "demeaned and disparaged women throughout his life." She began supporting President Joe Biden's re-election campaign tour in Atlanta, where he is campaigning across several states.
On the 2nd (local time), CNN in the U.S. evaluated that "Mrs. Biden is not hesitating in her role in her husband's re-election campaign."
As foreign media noted, Mrs. Biden said, "President Joe Biden has proudly made women's issues a core agenda," while pointing out that Trump, who has "mocked women's bodies, ignored their achievements, and attacked recklessly," is boasting about killing 'Roe v. Wade' (the ruling that recognized abortion as a constitutional right). Mrs. Biden's mention of 'Roe v. Wade' was aimed at former President Trump's remarks on abortion.
Earlier, former President Trump said in a Fox News interview regarding the timing of abortion bans, "I haven't decided yet," but added, "I'm hearing more and more about 15 weeks."
On the 2nd, Mrs. Biden also criticized the Republican Party's abortion restriction moves, to which former President Trump belongs, during her visit to Tucson, Arizona. She is also expected to appeal for support from women voters while touring other battleground states such as Nevada and Wisconsin, following Georgia and Arizona. These areas were highly competitive in the 2020 election but were all won by President Biden.
Mrs. Biden's sharp attacks on Trump are unusual. She has always greeted her husband's supporters with a smile and focused on her marriage to President Biden, family life, and her career as an educator. Her recent remarks suggest she will take a more aggressive approach in the election campaign. In this election, the votes of women voters are expected to play a very important role.
CNN and others reported, citing a source, that "she (Mrs. Biden) will not only visit deep blue areas (Democratic strongholds) but will travel to various regions across the country."

President Biden's campaign is hopeful about Mrs. Biden's active role. Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the campaign manager for Biden, told CNN, "The First Lady's trustworthy voice is important in reaching voters who will decide this election," adding, "As a mother, grandmother, and educator, the First Lady can effectively convey the President's message to the American people."
Mrs. Biden is more popular among the public than her husband. According to a recent CNN poll, 59% of respondents expressed negative opinions about President Biden, but negative responses toward Jill Biden were only 30%.
