As South Korea's birth rate falls to one of the lowest levels in the world, raising concerns about a demographic crisis, domestic conglomerate chairmen are stepping up to actively promote higher birth rates.

Chairmen such as Moon Juhyun of MDM and Korea Asset Trust Group, Lee Junggeun of Booyoung Group, and Park Changu of Kumho Petrochemical Group have been receiving positive evaluations for providing substantial funds to families with children.

Moon Juhyun, chairman of MDM and Korea Asset Trust Group, has been supporting employees across all affiliates for six years by providing 200,000 KRW monthly per child until the child turns 19. For the birth of a second child, the support increases to 500,000 KRW monthly, and for a third child, 1,000,000 KRW monthly for 19 years.

Chairman Moon's support means that employees with three children effectively receive an annual salary increase of 12 million KRW.

Lee Junggeun, chairman of Booyoung Group, attracted attention last month by providing an extraordinary 100 million KRW each to 70 employees who had children.

MDM, Korea Asset Trust Group, and Booyoung are well-known successful companies in the real estate development and construction industries, earning praise for their corporate social contributions.

In the past, Park Changu, chairman of Kumho Petrochemical Group, a key subsidiary of the Kumho Group, also supported couples who had seven children with 100 million KRW on the 26th in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Interestingly, these three companies are led by successful chairmen from the Honam region, drawing attention.

As such, large corporations are receiving applause for providing substantial financial support to increase the birth rate, and it is expected that these efforts will contribute to a rise in the birth rate.
