The ceremony, held on the 21st at the main conference room of the Seunghak Campus University Headquarters, was divided into the ‘DECO Scholarship Award’ and the ‘DECO Supporters 8th and 9th Term Completion Ceremony.’

Non-curricular programs are educational programs offered separately from the curricular education process, including various types such as special lectures, mentoring, contests, and camps. Currently, Dong-A University operates over 500 non-curricular programs annually, with more than 20,000 enrolled students participating each year (including multiple participations).

The DECO Scholarship Award ceremony was held to select students who showed particularly active participation in non-curricular activities during the 2023 academic year, share their achievements, and encourage more students to take an interest in non-curricular education.

The Institute for Educational Innovation evaluated accumulated non-curricular activity points, the number of completed programs, and competency scores over the past year to select a total of 230 scholarship recipients: 10 Grand Prize winners, 40 Excellence Awardees, 60 Merit Awardees, and 120 Encouragement Awardees.

The DECO Supporters are a non-curricular promotion and evaluation group representing the Institute for Educational Innovation, conducting promotion of on-campus non-curricular programs as well as surveys and evaluations related to non-curricular education.

This year, five students including Lim Ji-su (4th year, Department of Global Business) received certificates for the 8th term, and five students including Lee Ji-min (3rd year, Department of Management Information Systems) received certificates for the 9th term.

Kim Min-seok (4th year, Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Mechanical and Industrial Management Engineering), selected as a DECO Scholarship Grand Prize winner, said, “Thanks to the non-curricular programs, I was able to have many diverse and enjoyable experiences. I especially participated a lot in employment programs, which really helped me set my career and employment goals. Receiving this scholarship makes me feel very rewarded and proud.”

Kang Young-jo, Director of the Institute for Educational Innovation, said, “Our campus members are making great efforts to provide students with various activities and experiences that cannot be gained through curricular education alone. I hope this result will serve as an opportunity for more students to take an interest in and actively participate in non-curricular education.”
