Jeju Coast Guard Issues 'Advisory' for Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System

Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byeong-yong) has been making every effort to prevent coastal safety accidents around Jeju Island since the 19th, as winds blow at 10 to 18 m/s and waves rise to 2.0 to 5.0 meters.

Jeju Maritime Police announced on the 20th that it will issue a 'Caution' level warning under the Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System until 6 p.m. on the 25th.

The 'Caution' level of the Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System is issued when there is a high risk of safety accidents occurring in coastal waters or when accidents are occurring and there is concern about the spread of damage.

Jeju Maritime Police plans to do its best to prevent marine accidents by identifying vulnerable factors in advance, strengthening patrols along the coast including breakwaters and tetrapods, checking the mooring status of ships docked at ports and harbors, and sending risk notification messages to shipowners and captains.

A Jeju Maritime Police official said, "We will strengthen safety patrols in vulnerable areas with high accident risks such as coastlines, rocky shores, and breakwaters," and added, "Due to sudden gusts and swell waves, there is a concern for safety accidents, so please refrain from entering coastal areas during bad weather."
