The Education Autonomy Cooperation District project is an initiative promoted by the Jeollanam-do Office of Education since 2013, which strengthens the regional education cooperation system by signing agreements with 22 cities and counties, and activates connected school education and village education communities.

The participants took time to evaluate and plan the Education Autonomy Cooperation District project in response to the increasing demand for cooperation among local educational stakeholders.

In particular, they discussed developing and distributing curriculum materials linked with villages to promote region-specific education, and establishing a cooperative system with local governments tailored to the circumstances of each of the 22 districts for educational cooperation.

Jung Byung-guk, Director of the Education Autonomy Division, said, “The core of the Education Autonomy Cooperation District project is to strengthen cooperation with local governments so that children can have affection for their region and dream of a glocal future.” He added, “This year, we will focus on realizing regional education autonomy based on the capabilities of the village education community.”
