Singer Won Mi-yeon has lost her mother.
Her agency, Gamseong Entertainment, announced on the 15th, "Won Mi-yeon's mother passed away on the 14th after battling a chronic illness," adding, "Won Mi-yeon is staying at the funeral home with her family in grief."
The funeral is being held in Room 11 at Yonsei University Sinchon Funeral Hall in Seoul. The funeral procession will take place at 8 a.m. on the 17th, and the burial site is the family cemetery in Yeoju.
Won Mi-yeon debuted in the music industry in 1989 with the song "Honjario Sip-eoyo" (I Want to Be Alone) and has been loved for various hit songs such as "Ibyeol Yeohaeng" (Farewell Trip) and "Jogeumeun Gipeun Sarang" (A Slightly Deep Love). In 2004, she married broadcast engineer Park Seong-guk and has one daughter.
