Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, welcomed Sten Schwede, Ambassador of Estonia to Korea, at the city hall reception room on the afternoon of the 15th and discussed various economic and industrial exchange plans between the two countries.
Estonia is a country that has introduced and operates the K9 self-propelled howitzer. During his visit to Changwon, Ambassador Sten Schwede toured the Hanwha Aerospace K9 self-propelled howitzer factory and took time to explore cooperation plans in the defense industry sector.
At the meeting, Mayor Hong said, “Estonia is known as an IT powerhouse, often called the ‘Silicon Valley’ of Europe, and I highly appreciate its digital public administration services.” He added, “We look forward to mutual exchange and cooperation in the process of advancing digitalization of social disaster administration through the operation of integrated services linking Changwon’s CCTV integrated control center and smart city integrated platform.”
In response, Ambassador Sten Schwede replied, “I will actively cooperate to promote international exchange and cooperation between Changwon Special City and Estonia.”
Meanwhile, Changwon City plans to continue sharing Estonia’s e-government experience and maintain cooperation in cybersecurity and defense industry exchanges.
