[Special Stock] NHN KCP's Temu Payment Service Hits Big... Temu Users Surge 1200%

NHN KCP is showing strong performance. The surge in direct purchases from China, centered around Ali and Temu, appears to be influencing the stock price with expectations of improved earnings. NHN KCP, which provides payment services to Temu, stated, "Chinese e-commerce platforms are rapidly growing by addressing previously noted drawbacks such as slow delivery and quality issues," adding, "Supported by strong payment performance, related transaction volumes are continuously trending upward."

As of 2:25 PM on the 15th, NHN KCP is trading at 13,290 KRW, up 12.91% from the previous day.

NHN KCP recorded sales of 268.4 billion KRW and an operating profit of 12.5 billion KRW in the fourth quarter of last year. These figures represent increases of 20.7% and 1.1%, respectively, compared to the same period the previous year.

For the full year, consolidated cumulative sales reached 972 billion KRW, with an operating profit of 42 billion KRW. While sales increased by 18.1% year-over-year, operating profit decreased by 5.1%. The transaction amount contributing to sales was 43 trillion KRW, up 17.1% from the previous year. Transactions increased each quarter by securing competitive new clients in sectors such as dawn delivery, home shopping, global OTT, direct purchases from China, OTA, and food and beverage.

Yoon Yoo-dong, a researcher at NH Investment & Securities, explained, "Direct purchases from China are becoming a new consumer trend rather than just a simple theme," noting, "As of the 13th, the Google Play app rankings showed Ali at number 1 and Temu at number 2."

He added, "NHN KCP plans to expand more merchants based on its global sales capabilities," and "In the fourth quarter of last year, it secured two major travel companies." He also expressed expectations, saying, "It is speculated that the inclusion of a specific company anticipated by the market could be announced in the first half of the year."

Following the Chinese shopping application AliExpress, Temu is growing at a rapid pace. According to big data platform company IGAWorks Marketing Cloud, Temu's monthly active users (MAU) last month reached 4,591,049, an increase of more than 10 times (1261%) compared to August last year (337,225). In the same month, Temu's new app installations totaled 2.22 million, ranking first in the shopping app category since September last year. As of last month, the combined number of users (MAU) for Temu and Ali exceeds 10 million.
