At the meeting, Lee said, "Thank you for worrying about me and comforting me because of my stabbing incident," and added, "Let us unite to win the general election." He continued, "This general election is the last chance to restore the people’s livelihood and economy," emphasizing, "Winning is an historical mission."
Former President Moon expressed regret over the current political situation where the government and ruling party neglect the people's livelihood and disregard unity, saying, "Above all, it is important to join forces. Elections require urgency and earnestness, so we must unite," according to spokesperson Park Sung-joon.
Former President Moon: "We Are a United 'Prestigious Party'"
Regarding the recent factional conflicts over candidate nominations, former President Moon said, "We are the 'Prestigious (Lee Jae-myung and Moon Jae-in) Party,'" adding, "There is a frame dividing us into pro-Moon and pro-Lee factions around the general election, but we are one, and unity is most important."
In response, Lee said, "The Democratic Party will act like a melting pot, dissolving divisions and conflicts to unite and devote all efforts to winning the general election." Additionally, former President Moon mentioned the public sentiment in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) and reportedly asked Lee to "pay attention" to it.

Outside the former president’s residence, while talking with Lee, former President Moon closely examined the wound from the stabbing and offered words of comfort.
Pointing to Lee’s neck, the site of the stabbing attack, former President Moon said, "There is a mark left. If there had been no collar, it could have been a disaster," adding, "The world is becoming harsher and increasingly violent," as he embraced Lee. Lee replied, "(The assailant) precisely aimed here," and said, "Only the vein was cut, the artery was not damaged."
Lee had originally planned to visit former President Moon on the 2nd of last month to offer New Year’s greetings, but he canceled the visit schedule after being stabbed by a man in his 60s disguised as a supporter at the planned site for the new airport construction on Gadeokdo Island, Busan.
