Jolie Sells Vineyard Stake Purchased Before Marriage
Pitt Claims "Selling to Retaliate Against Me Over Custody Disputes"
Hollywood famous actor Brad Pitt has reportedly won a legal dispute over a $500 million (approximately 669.2 billion KRW) French vineyard with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
On the 2nd (local time), U.S. entertainment media Page Six and others reported that Brad Pitt recently effectively won the lawsuit over the vineyard shares with Angelina Jolie. Pitt and Jolie have been engaged in a legal battle over the vineyard Ch?teau Miraval located in Provence, southern France.
Before their marriage, the two purchased Ch?teau Miraval together, with Pitt holding 60% and Jolie 40% of the shares. The couple held their wedding at this winery in 2014, and afterward, Pitt decided to gift 10% of his vineyard shares to Jolie, making their ownership equal at 50% each.
However, after their divorce in 2019, Jolie sold all her shares to Yuri Shefler, the owner of a Russian vodka company. In response, Pitt filed a civil lawsuit claiming that Jolie's sale of the jointly owned vineyard shares without his consent was invalid and that he should still own 60% of the shares. He argued that the 10% share he had intended to gift to Jolie was not legally binding and that he should reclaim it.

During the lawsuit, Pitt's side claimed, "After Jolie received an unfavorable ruling in the 2021 child custody case, she sold the vineyard shares in retaliation to cause damage," adding, "It will be proven in court that Jolie's actions were illegal." Although the final outcome of the lawsuit has not yet been announced, it is known that the Luxembourg court recently ruled that the 10% vineyard share belongs to Pitt.
Meanwhile, Jolie and Pitt fell in love on the set of the 2004 film 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' and dated for about 10 years before officially marrying in August 2014. However, their marriage ended after 25 months in 2016, and their official divorce was finalized in 2019. They have continued legal battles not only over the vineyard shares but also over the custody of their six children.
