Emergency Reduction Measures from 6 AM to 9 PM on the 31st
Changes in Operating Hours for Workplaces and Construction Sites, Adjustment of Operating Rates
Operation Crackdown on Emission Grade 5 Old Vehicles, etc.
Chungnam Province issued a fine dust crisis alert at the ‘Interest’ level across the entire region from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the 31st.
Chungnam Province announced that the average concentration of fine dust from midnight the previous day to 4 p.m. on the 31st exceeded 50㎍/㎥, and the daily average concentration on the 31st is expected to exceed 50㎍/㎥. Therefore, along with issuing the crisis alert, emergency reduction measures will be implemented.
During the emergency reduction measures, the operating hours of 107 large fine dust-emitting business sites and construction sites generating scattered dust within the region will be changed, and measures such as adjusting operation rates and improving efficiency will be implemented.
Operation control of old vehicles classified as emission grade 5 will also be enforced. A fine of 100,000 KRW will be imposed if caught during the control.
In the public sector, to reduce fine dust, a two-day vehicle operation restriction system will be implemented at administrative and public institutions within the region, along with shortening and adjusting operating hours of public air emission business sites and restricting the use of old construction machinery at government-funded construction sites.
Chungnam Province and city/counties plan to strengthen on-site inspections of large fine dust-emitting business sites and construction sites generating scattered dust to ensure thorough implementation of the emergency reduction measures.
Meanwhile, the fine dust crisis alert at the ‘Interest’ level is issued when conditions such as the average concentration exceeding 50㎍/㎥ from midnight to 4 p.m. on the day and an expected exceedance of 50㎍/㎥ the next day, issuance of advisories or warnings in the relevant city/province area from midnight to 4 p.m. on the day with an expected exceedance of 50㎍/㎥ the next day, or an expected exceedance of 75㎍/㎥ (very bad) the next day are met.
The ‘Caution’ level is issued when the concentration remains above 150㎍/㎥ for 2 hours plus a forecast exceeding 75㎍/㎥ the next day, or when the ‘Interest’ level is maintained for two consecutive days and is expected to continue for an additional day or more. The ‘Alert’ level is issued when the concentration remains above 200㎍/㎥ for 2 hours plus a forecast exceeding 150㎍/㎥ the next day, or when the ‘Caution’ level is maintained for two consecutive days and is expected to continue for an additional day or more. The ‘Serious’ level is issued when the concentration remains above 400㎍/㎥ for 2 hours plus a forecast exceeding 200㎍/㎥ the next day, or when the ‘Alert’ level is maintained for two consecutive days and is expected to continue for an additional day or more.
