Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) will operate a Hanmadang Market at the district office plaza from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on February 1 and 2 to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The Guro Hanmadang Market, held annually before the holiday, is well received by residents as it offers high-quality local specialties and holiday essentials at affordable prices.
This year, 43 farms from 27 local governments, including Guro-gu’s sister cities Dangjin-si, Namwon-si, Gurye-gun, Yecheon-gun, Yeongwol-gun, and Danyang-gun, will participate.
More than 50 items and 300 products such as Korean beef, dried yellow corvina, traditional Korean sweets, and seasoned vegetables will be sold, and a food market will be set up on one side to delight visitors’ taste buds.
On February 6, Mayor Moon Heon-il plans to visit Namguro Market, Guro Market, Garibong Market, Gocheok Neighborhood Market, Gocheok Alley Market Shopping District, Ground Gocheok Alley-type Shopping District, Oryu Beodeul Market Alley-type Shopping District, and Gaebong Central Alley-type Shopping District with the Consumer Protection Volunteer Group to encourage merchants and promote market revitalization.
These markets and shopping districts will hold discount events on Lunar New Year ritual items and offer a payback event where customers receive a 5,000 won Onnuri gift certificate when purchasing over 30,000 won or 50,000 won.
Detailed schedules and event contents vary by market and may change depending on circumstances. For more information, please contact the respective market merchant association or the district office’s local economy division.
A Guro-gu official stated, “We hope residents prepare for the Lunar New Year fruitfully at the Guro Hanmadang Market and local markets.”
