A man in his 30s who caused a disturbance by confronting police officers with a weapon in a residential area has been brought to trial.
The Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kwon Nae-geon) announced on the 25th that Jeong Mo, who caused a disturbance by confronting police officers with a weapon in a residential area in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul last year, has been indicted without detention.
According to the prosecution, Jeong is accused of threatening police officers with a weapon and confronting them for nearly two hours on August 26 last year in Galhyeon-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, after causing a disturbance while intoxicated and prompting a 112 emergency call (special obstruction of official duties).
At the time, the police tried to persuade Jeong to put down the weapon through dialogue after he threatened to harm himself by pointing the weapon at his own neck and chest, but eventually deployed a special task force and arrested him on the spot after 2 hours and 40 minutes.
