Tourist Interpretation Center Visits Gangneung Jungang and Seongnam Markets
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 22nd that Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran will visit Gangneung to inspect tourism facilities and sites ahead of the '2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.'

On the day, Vice Minister Jang will visit the tourist interpretation center to assess its operation status, popular tourist destinations frequently visited by foreign tourists, and tourists' demands. Additionally, she will check the intervals of the circulating buses operating to facilitate tourists' movement, such as for watching games, and review improvements for more convenient use.
She will also visit traditional Korean-style lodging facilities to check tourist usage status, room occupancy rates, lodging price trends, and hygiene management. Furthermore, she will visit Gangneung's representative traditional markets, Jungang Market and Seongnam Market, which are popular among inbound tourists, to understand the trend of increasing tourists and examine convenient payment services such as mobile pay and parking capacity readiness.
Vice Minister Jang is expected to meet with market merchant association officials and urge them to actively participate in the 'Fair Price' campaign to eradicate overcharging for food.
Jang Mi-ran, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "As various youths from different countries will visit Korea for Gangwon 2024, I hope tourism officials will warmly welcome foreign tourists and do their best to improve the quality of inbound tourism services." She added, "We will continuously monitor tourism facilities such as tourist interpretation, shopping tourism, transportation, and festivals, and promptly take corrective actions for any inconveniences."
