Daewon Pharmaceutical Donates 30 Million Won Through 'Good Walking' Campaign
A company that collected donations accumulated every time employees walked and contributed to health care support projects for overseas children is Daewon Pharmaceutical, renowned in the respiratory medicine field. Daewon Pharmaceutical recently donated 30 million KRW raised through the 'Good Walking' campaign, which involved employee participation, to the Good Neighbors Seoul Northern Branch. This effort contributed to spreading a culture of donation while taking care of employee health.
The Good Walking campaign, a healthy walking contest conducted by Daewon Pharmaceutical, is a campaign that donates a certain amount of money per step. From June to November last year, about 400 Daewon Pharmaceutical employees participated twice. The campaign measured employees' steps through the donation platform ‘Cherry.’ Employees accumulated approximately 180 million steps in total from the first and second rounds, raising a total of 30 million KRW. The donated funds delivered to Good Neighbors will be used for health care support projects for overseas children.
Last year, Daewon Pharmaceutical also conducted the ‘New Walk’ donation campaign. Designed for healthy legs, the campaign allowed participants to care for their leg health while donating simply by participating. New Walk was carried out by taking photos of walking with family, friends, lovers, or pets and posting them on Instagram with hashtags for verification. For each verified post, 1,000 KRW was donated. The donations were used through the donation organization ‘G Foundation’ to support children and youth in childcare facilities. Daewon Pharmaceutical is planning various donation campaigns related to walking this year as well.
In addition, Daewon Pharmaceutical holds sharing concerts to improve awareness of developmental disabilities through its in-house choir ‘Daewon Harmony.’ The company also engages in various social contribution activities where employees directly participate to fulfill corporate social responsibility, such as ‘Beautiful Day,’ which collects and sells reusable items and donates the proceeds, and ‘Sharing Love Kimchi Making,’ ‘Sharing Love Bread Making,’ and ‘Sharing Love Briquette Sharing’ for low-income vulnerable groups.
Baek In-hwan, CEO of Daewon Pharmaceutical, said, "Last year was a difficult year internationally due to war, refugees, and poverty," adding, "With this donation, I hope that overseas children and residents in medical blind spots will receive systematic medical services in a safe environment."
