KOSPI Starts Higher on Net Buying by Institutions

The KOSPI opened higher due to net buying by institutional investors.


As of 9:38 a.m. on the 11th, the KOSPI recorded 2,546.75, up 4.77 points (0.19%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreigners net sold 236.4 billion KRW. On the other hand, individuals and institutions net bought 118.9 billion KRW and 118.2 billion KRW, respectively.


By sector, securities rose 1.93%, while steel and metals, construction, transportation and warehousing, finance, and transportation equipment showed upward trends. Conversely, pharmaceuticals fell 1.28%, and medical precision, food and beverages, and insurance sectors showed slight declines.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics recorded 73,500 KRW, down 100 KRW (0.14%) from the previous trading day. POSCO Future M rose 2.50%, and LG Energy Solution, POSCO Holdings, and Kakao increased by more than 1%. Meanwhile, Celltrion fell 3.40%, and Samsung C&T and LG Chem also showed slight declines.


The KOSDAQ recorded 881.38, up 5.92 points (0.68%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, individuals and foreigners net sold 7.8 billion KRW and 3.7 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, institutions net bought 7.8 billion KRW.


By sector, telecommunications equipment rose 4.26%, and telecommunication services jumped 3.69%. Additionally, general electrical and electronics and digital content sectors rose more than 2%. Conversely, pharmaceuticals and internet sectors fell more than 1%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Ecopro BM traded at 304,500 KRW, up 11,000 KRW (3.75%) from the previous trading day. Ecopro and Rainbow Robotics also rose more than 2%. Meanwhile, HLB fell 4.29%, and Alteogen, Celltrion Pharm, and LS Materials dropped more than 3%.
