"I Gave My Parents 10 Million Won at 19"…A Son's Story That Moved Hearts

"Paid Back Parents Whom I Owed Money After Playing Baseball"
Netizens Say "Parents Must Be Proud"

A 19-year-old student whose dream is to drive a luxury foreign car has become a hot topic after giving 10 million won, saved from part-time jobs, to his mother.

On the 21st, a post by a 19-year-old student who dreams of driving a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen 400d was uploaded on the online community Bobae Dream.

The poster said, "I saved this money over about 8 months of part-time work," and added, "Honestly, saving 10 million won wasn't difficult, and my family even went into debt because of my baseball activities. So I just gave all the money to pay off the remaining debt and as an allowance for my parents."

He continued, "Actually, the money was also saved for the purpose of starting a business later, but since it’s not money I need to use right now and saving it wasn’t difficult, I gave it all without any burden, and my mother was very happy." He added, "It’s my first time doing something filial, and I feel proud thinking that I did it properly in one go."

After reading the story, a netizen commented to the poster, "It must have been hard emotionally when you quit the sport you liked. Your parents must have been worried too," and said, "I look forward to seeing an even cooler version of you in the future." The poster replied, "My parents really worked hard. I have to grow well and repay them even more."

Other netizens also showed various reactions such as, "He’s younger than me but there’s a lot to learn from him," "The young guy is really admirable. With that mindset, he’ll probably be able to drive even better cars," and "Regardless of age, it’s impressive. His parents must be proud."

Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, nicknamed 'G-Wagen,' is one of the longest-standing series in the Mercedes lineup. Featuring a strong box-shaped silhouette and iconic design along with powerful driving performance, the G-Class has been loved consistently for over 40 years since its first release in 1979. Especially in Korea, the G-Class has sold more than 7,000 units since its first domestic launch in 2012. The price ranges from 200 million to 300 million won.
