Apartment complexes will be constructed in the station areas of Sinimun Station on Subway Line 1 and Cheonwang Station on Subway Line 7.

On the 21st, Seoul City announced that it had approved a revised plan for establishing a maintenance plan and designating (amending) a maintenance district for a long-term lease housing construction project through an urban maintenance-type redevelopment project at 168-1, Imun-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, during the 20th Seoul Metropolitan Urban Planning Committee held the previous day.

The site is located in the station area of Sinimun Station on Subway Line 1, where old and deteriorated buildings are densely concentrated. On an area of 32,165.2㎡, a total of 1,265 households will be supplied in buildings ranging from 4 basement floors to 40 above-ground floors, including 366 public rental housing units. Among these, 251 units will be supplied as long-term lease housing in the station area.

Additionally, with a plan to install a 3,800㎡ park, green spaces accessible to pedestrians near Sinimun Station and residents near the project site will be expanded.

Furthermore, the road section connected from the Sinimun underground pedestrian and vehicle road will be widened to improve traffic conditions on Imun-ro 42-gil. Imun-ro 16-gil will also be widened to alleviate congestion caused by increased traffic from the development and to improve the pedestrian environment.

A 'Community Support Facility' of 2,740㎡, which residents inside and outside the complex can use together, is also planned. A public pedestrian passage will be installed to facilitate walking for residents near the project site to Sinimun Station and Imun Elementary School.

The area around 206-2, Oryu-dong, Guro-gu, adjacent to Cheonwang Station on Subway Line 7, will be promoted as an urban maintenance-type redevelopment project to create a new space befitting a station area.

On the 8,476㎡ site, three apartment buildings ranging from 3 basement floors to 26 above-ground floors (with a maximum height of 82 meters or less) will be constructed, totaling 323 households including 116 public rental housing units.

Public sports facilities planned as an aerobics center and gym, as well as community support facilities, will be established on the first floor above ground and the first basement floor within the site for local residents to freely use.

On the same day, the designation of the maintenance district and the decision on the maintenance plan for the urban maintenance-type redevelopment project in the area of 303-1, Gwanghui-dong 1-ga, adjacent to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station, were also approved with modifications. Around 3,954㎡ of maintenance infrastructure (roads, parks) will be secured around the site, and one building with a total floor area of approximately 140,000㎡ for office and neighborhood living facilities will be constructed.

For the convenience of public transportation users, a subway entrance (Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station) will be newly installed inside the building. In line with the green ecological urban regeneration strategy, an approximately 3,400㎡ open green space connected to surrounding pedestrian routes is planned to create a space where citizens can relax and engage in various activities.

A Seoul city official said, “With the designation of the urban maintenance-type redevelopment district in the area of 303-1, Gwanghui-dong, we expect to secure a green corridor linked to adjacent areas, create prime-grade office facilities, and contribute to the restoration of urban functions and regional revitalization around Dongdaemun History & Culture Park.”
