Moorim Opens Forest and Marine Ecology Center at Lotte World Aquarium

Moorim Opens Forest and Marine Ecology Center at Lotte World Aquarium Moorim P&P has created 'Paperium' at Lotte World Aquarium.

Pulp and paper manufacturer Moorim P&P announced on the 21st that it has partnered with Lotte World to create 'Paperium,' an aquarium exhibit where visitors can enjoy paper.

Paperium was established to share the eco-friendly value of paper and pulp as paper has recently gained attention as an environmentally friendly material, and to convey the importance of nature such as forests and oceans to future generations.

The theme of Paperium is the 'Forest-Ocean Ecology Hall,' aiming to share the impact of rising sea surface temperatures caused by global warming on marine life and marine ecosystems. Through the exhibition, it plans to encourage daily ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices such as using eco-friendly products for carbon reduction and resource circulation. Moorim showcased various objects and characters made with low-carbon paper products and biodegradable natural pulp at Paperium. The exhibition content helps visitors easily and enjoyably understand the eco-friendly values embedded in the paper manufacturing process, from raw materials to production technology.

At the center of Paperium stands the approximately 2.4-meter-high 'Eco-friendly Paper Cup Tree,' a unique attraction created in collaboration with paper cup artist Kim Soo-min. It carries a message to raise awareness about the protection of endangered animals. The piece is made from 'Neofore Cup,' an eco-friendly paper cup material certified biodegradable, and natural pulp mold containers. The object, made with a new paper filter material that absorbs fine dust, also has an air-purifying effect and will be changed seasonally to add new interest.

To encourage visitors to participate in practical eco-friendly actions in daily life, an eco event called 'To Penguin Friends' has been prepared. Visitors can write supportive messages for marine life protection on Moorim’s low-carbon postcards and drop them into a mailbox. Depending on the number of postcards collected, the company will donate a certain amount to biodiversity-related environmental organizations.
