Sang-geun Lee, Goseong County Governor, Inspects Park Golf Course Construction Site Aiming for Groundbreaking Next Year

Lee Sang-geun, Mayor of Goseong County, Gyeongnam, inspected the site of the Goseong County Park Golf Course construction project being promoted in the Sunam-ri area of Goseong-eup on the 18th.

At the site, Mayor Lee said, "While many park golf courses exist in other regions, our county has none, so residents have been waiting eagerly," adding, "Once the park golf course is completed, it will contribute to increasing leisure activities for residents and revitalizing the local economy. I hope compensation negotiations proceed swiftly so that construction can begin as soon as possible."

Park golf is a modern sport combining park and golf, where players use a wooden club to hit a ball into a hole approximately 100 meters away. Compared to regular golf, it is less expensive, has fewer risk factors, and is easier to swing, making it a sport that people of various age groups can enjoy together.

The county plans to build the Goseong County Park Golf Course on the site adjacent to the tennis courts of the Sports Town in Gyosa-ri, Goseong-eup, which was included in the basic plan completed in 2021. Although a sports facility decision service was initiated at the end of December 2022, difficulties arose in compensating for the clan cemetery within the site, and due to noise issues from the military shooting range, the project location was changed in March to an area near Baekse Park in Sunam-ri, which is easily accessible from the town center.

The Goseong County Park Golf Course to be constructed in Sunam-ri, Goseong-eup, will cover an area of 30,000 square meters with a total project cost of approximately 6.5 billion KRW, including an 18-hole course, a management building, and a parking lot.

The county has secured a budget for compensation in this year's supplementary budget and is currently proceeding with compensation negotiations. The plan is to complete compensation in the first half of 2024, start construction in the second half, and aim for completion in the second half of 2025.
