Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) received a scholarship fund of 10 million KRW from five Saemaeul Geumgo branches in the area (Yeomchang-dong, Deungchon-dong, Hwagok-dong, Ujangsan-dong, Gayang-dong) on the 13th.
On the morning of the same day, a scholarship fund donation ceremony was held at the district mayor's office, attended by Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon and the chairpersons of each Saemaeul Geumgo branch in the region.
The scholarship fund donated by Saemaeul Geumgo as part of the Regional Hope Contribution Project will be used to support the academic pursuits of low-income students through the Gangseo-gu Scholarship Foundation.
Since signing the Regional Hope Contribution Project agreement with Gangseo-gu in 2010, Saemaeul Geumgo has carried out various projects for the underprivileged in the community for 13 years, including ▲raising scholarship funds for vulnerable students and ▲improving small library facilities. The total amount of donations made to date reaches 265 million KRW.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "I deeply appreciate Saemaeul Geumgo for practicing warm sharing for our neighbors again this year," and added, "The district will also build a more thorough welfare network to carefully support vulnerable groups in need."
