Expansion of Public Participation in the Port Sector
"Realizing the Value of Social Community"
An interesting vote is taking place regarding the operation of Busan Port.
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) announced on the 13th that it will conduct a public vote for 7 days from the 13th to the 19th to select outstanding achievements in three areas: Busan Port operation, organizational management, and innovation for the year 2023.
BPA put 20 outstanding cases that passed the first internal and external evaluation panel review in the ‘2023 Busan Port Authority Best Practices Competition,’ which has been ongoing since the end of November, up for voting.
The voting targets include ▲ five innovation achievements such as the use of drones and the introduction of port-type Hi-Pass, ▲ five management achievements including the creation of the Busan Port ESG ecosystem and the establishment of proactive safety systems, and ▲ ten project achievements such as the integration of the New-North Port and the completion of the country’s first fully automated terminal.
Anyone, including port workers, can access the survey on the official Busan Port Authority website and select three outstanding cases from each category.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “Through the public vote, we aim to take the lead in realizing values that the public can feel and to gain ideas on the direction the authority should take,” adding, “Next year, we will work harder to improve the quality of life for everyone, including the 180,000 Busan Port workers.”
