On the 13th, Gwangju Seobu Fire Station held a memorable time-travel retirement event for seven employees scheduled to retire in the second half of the year.
The retirees have dedicated over 30 years as firefighters, protecting the lives and property of the public and serving the nation at numerous disaster sites. The fire station organized this event as a final tribute and moving farewell to the retirees who have given their best in disaster response over many years, aiming to foster a healthy organizational culture of respect and cooperation between senior and junior members.
The event, themed "Entrust Safety," included a final fire suppression training session (PT exercises and fire hose deployment) at the Seobu Fire Station garage before retirement, and a visit to the 119 Situation Room at the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters. The retirees’ final broadcast expressing their feelings about retiring from firefighting was transmitted through the Seobu Fire Station’s communication network so that all staff could listen.
Participating in the event as a retiree, No Jeomrye, Chief of Seobu Fire Station, said, "I feel a lot of regret leaving the firefighting organization I have been part of my whole life," adding, "Although I am soon leaving the fire service I have grown attached to, I will always support it as an eternal member of the firefighting family and wish for its continued development."
