Gwangju Seo-gu Wins 'Minister of Health and Welfare Award' for Mobile Healthcare

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the 2023 Health Promotion Project Digital Healthcare Division Integrated Performance Competition for its 'Mobile Healthcare Project.'

According to Seo-gu on the 11th, the Ministry of Health and Welfare annually selects public health centers that actively implement health promotion projects utilizing digital healthcare technology and contribute to the health promotion of local residents.

Following last year's selection as an excellent case, Seo-gu was recognized for its contribution to resident health promotion and was selected as an outstanding institution.

The 'Mobile Healthcare Project' is a program that uses smart devices and mobile apps to allow health center professionals such as doctors and exercise specialists to assess individuals' personal health, nutritional status, and physical activity status, and provide counseling and education in health, nutrition, and exercise over six months to support the health management of local residents.

This year, Seo-gu provided health management services from April to October to 215 residents in the district with one or more health risk factors (blood sugar, blood pressure, waist circumference, triglycerides, HDL-chol). The project achieved high results including ▲100% service registration rate ▲63.2% improvement rate in one or more health behaviors ▲65.7% reduction rate in one or more health risk factors ▲86.41 points satisfaction score.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "Recently, non-face-to-face health management projects have become increasingly important," adding, "We will continue to effectively promote Seo-gu Public Health Center’s Mobile Healthcare Project so that residents can easily check their health status and contribute to health promotion through long-term management."
