Including the Establishment of the Ministry of Climate and Energy
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 11th that he "urges a complete shift in the government's energy policy direction, including the establishment of a Ministry of Climate and Energy," addressing the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Lee said, "(Our government's energy policy) is going completely against the global trend."
Lee pointed out, "Even Saudi Arabia, which was a competitor in the Expo and the largest oil-producing country, announced that it will expand the share of renewable energy to 50% by 2030," adding, "As of 2021, South Korea's renewable energy generation accounts for only 7%. It ranks 19th, the lowest among G20 countries." He continued, "Considering the global average share is 28%, this is an absurd situation at only a quarter of that. Yet, the government lowered the renewable energy target from the original 30% to 21.6% in January this year. This is truly frustrating," he criticized.
Lee emphasized, "The fortunate thing is that the government pledged at this year's United Nations Climate Change Conference to triple renewable energy within seven years," adding, "What matters is action, not words."
